Mr George Tsavliris, CYMEPA President, said in a statement:

"The driving force of our Association still remains the voluntary contributions of the Shipping Community, together with the commitment of the local Business Community.
While CYMEPA maintains among its prime targets the enhancement of environmental awareness among seafarers and shipping executives, an ever - increasing spectrum of activities for the land based population has been created.
Active In the Education and Information of Seafarers and Shipping Executives, CYMEPA is a partner in the Program "Enhancing Maritime safety culture in the Eastern Mediterranean" with HELMEPA and Lloyd's Register Foundation.
CYMEPA's Programs of Education for Sustainable Development are those of FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) which are the Blue Flag for beaches and marinas, Green Key for hotels and restaurants, Young Reporters for the Environment, Learning About Forests and Eco-Schools. CYMEPA has implemented with childish enthusiasm the Adopt-A-Ship Program which is run in cooperation with the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and has been recognized and imitated internationally. At the international level, CYMEPA plays a leading role in developing the activities of INTERMEPA that was created in 2006. All these dynamic contributions have only been made possible by the commitment and enthusiasm of our fellow Directors of the Board and of our small but dedicated and hardworking Staff.

On a personal note, I must admit that I have found it a great pleasure to work with such a loyal and dynamic team. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for our team's hard work and dedication in maintaining our Association's commitment, through education and information in prevention of marine pollution and protecting our marine environment".
